The formation of Higham Hill Muslim Community Trust in July 2014 brought together a group of volunteers with the combined experience of over 12 years dedicated service in the voluntary sector.
Its purpose is to encourage locals people to serve their immediate community so that a more tolerant, cohesive and inclusive society develops that respects individual cultural, social, religious and ethnic backgrounds of the people of Walthamforest.
Higham Hill Muslim Community Trust was established by a coalition of local residents in July 2014 and this small voluntary body has grown during the intervening years and flourishes today. They brought together a broad range of experience in the field of community work.
In July 2014, Higham Hill Muslim Community Trust began its first meeting at the chairman’s home where he pressed his ongoing concern at the need to provide a local network of volunteers to meet local needs.
In July 2014 saw the expansion to a number of members who were prepared to spend a few hours at the weekend engaging with the local youth, parents and the elderly. Here individual positions and aspirations were profiled and guidance provided where possible.
The future plans of Higham Hill Muslim Community Trust are to expand by firmly having a presence in a number of neighborhoods in the borough Walthamforest.
Within the next few years, Higham Hill Muslim Community Trust will build on the network of voluntary workers and we believe our commitment and dedication will make a significant difference to the fabric of Waltham Forest society.
Within the next quarter, with a base in either Walthamstow or Higham Hill we believe we can improve on delivering a reduction in antisocial behavior.
Our plans are to register as a Charitable Organisation.
Mission/Vision Statement Mission Statement
Our mission is to expand at a brisk but sustainable pace.
The existing team is able to engage, is professional and very effective.
We believe with confidence that in order to succeed at a local level, time must be given by local volunteers to steer local communities.
We are working towards a strong 10% increase in membership per annul over the next 3 years.
Our vision is to replicate our services across Walthamforest and then across North East London.
The main sources of expansion will be come from within local communities, with people who passionately care and who positively want to contribute to the betterment of their society. They realise that change is in their hands and that their active participation will make a difference.
With the use of a permanent base we have calculated that classes will provide the bulk of our income source.
Our Trust values are simple.
• That what we do is for the sake of helping others and not for personal gain.
• That a level of service is provided that we ourselves would wish to have.
• That our services should provide that ‘little bit extra’ than what is expected.
Right from the beginning we sat down with the local community with the aim of providing a local service which is aimed at the individual.
